Money Allocated to Fund Material Handling Research
I learned that the Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA) is looking for ways to significantly supply more funding for universities and it’s students. This article discusses how grants can be applied for which if granted, will keep professors active in their universities enabling them to train the next generation of material handling professionals. The entire article can be found here. I’ve copied and pasted it below as well.
MHIA allocates $100K to fund materials handling research
The association says supporting professors is ultimately a way to train more materials handling students.

As the first step in its plan to improve college-level materials handling education, the Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA) has set aside $100,000 in grant money to support academic research related to the industry.
MHIA and its College Industry Council on Material Handling Education (CICMHE) are asking researchers from academic institutions to submit grant proposals by May 15. They plan to announce funding decisions on August 1.
By supporting the work of materials handling professors, says CICMHE managing director Mike Ogle, MHIA hopes to keep those professors active in their universities, where they can train the next generation of materials handling professionals.
This allocation of $100,000 is just the beginning, Ogle says. “We’re looking at ways to supply significantly more funding,” he says, possibly through a foundation with an endowment that could support materials handling, logistics and supply chain research and education on an ongoing basis.
Anyone interested in submitting a proposal for this initial grant can find proposal guidelines at the CICMHE Web site.
